Nutritional Benefits of Capsicum Curry

Capsicums are low in calories and high in vitamins A and C, making them a fantastic addition to a balanced diet. Gram flour contributes protein and fiber, while the addition of kasuri methi and spices enhances the dish's digestive benefits. The optional use of cream adds richness but can be substituted with coconut cream for a vegan alternative.

4 Tips for Perfect Capsicum Curry

  1. Use Fresh Vegetables: Opt for firm and colorful bell peppers for the best flavor and texture.

  2. Adjust Spice Levels: Increase or reduce chilies and spices based on your heat tolerance.

  3. Consistency Matters: If you prefer a thicker curry, reduce the amount of water slightly.

  4. Vegan Option: Replace cream with coconut cream or cashew paste for a plant-based alternative.

icon spoon

Instruction:

  1. Roast the Gram Flour:

Begin by dry-roasting the gram flour in a pan over low heat. Stir continuously until it turns slightly golden and releases a nutty aroma. Remove from heat and set aside.

  2. Prepare the Base:

Heat oil in a large pan. Add cumin seeds and let them crackle. Stir in the garlic-ginger paste, chopped tomatoes, and green chilies. Add salt, turmeric, coriander powder, cumin powder, kitchen king masala, and amchur powder. Cook until the tomatoes soften and the mixture thickens.

  3. Combine Vegetables:

Add sliced onions and capsicum to the pan. Mix well and sauté for 2–3 minutes. Pour in the water, cover the pan, and let the vegetables cook on medium heat for about 5 minutes.

  4. Incorporate Gram Flour:

Gradually sprinkle the roasted gram flour into the pan, stirring continuously to avoid lumps. Adjust the consistency by adding more water if required.

  5. Finish:

Let the curry simmer for another 2 minutes. Stir in the cream and sprinkle with kasuri methi for added flavor. Garnish with fresh coriander and serve hot.

Serving Suggestions

Capsicum Curry pairs beautifully with warm rotis or parathas. It can also be served over plain basmati rice or with jeera rice for a more indulgent meal. For a special touch, accompany the dish with a side of cucumber raita or pickled onions.
